Home for the Holidays: A Go-To Guide for Packing Your Carry On

TRAVELING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON? HATE PACKING? FEELING OVERWHELMED? DON'T WORRY, WE'RE HERE TO THINK OF EVERYTHING FOR YOU, SO ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SAY "PASS THE PIE PLEASE."

It’s that time of year again, and no we’re not talking about stuffing our faces with pumpkin pie or starting to check off our “naughty and nice” shopping list. We’re talking about traveling. For me, the holidays always equate to multiple plane rides. Whether it’s a family vacation aptly timed for Christmas or traveling to visit my family, between the months of October and December I frequent LAX on the reg. By now, I’d like to think of myself as the airport guru, but perhaps that’s giving myself too much credit. I will venture to say, however, that I may be the only person who actually gets excited by the airport and even more, enjoys a plane ride - I know, I’m crazy. As a Virgo, I’ve got the carry-on packing down. So whether it be a 2 hour flight to go see Mom and Dad or a 6 hour flight to an island in the sun, take it from a self-proclaimed pro: this is your go-to guide for everything you could possibly need in-flight.

Passport CaseThis may seem impractical at first glance, but trust us this one is key. Whether you’re rushing to the gate or sick of searching in the abyss that is also known as your purse, a passport case makes your passport the easiest thing to spot and grab on the fly.

Sleeping MaskGrowing up I used to think sleeping masks were such a frivolous (and uncomfortable) thing grown-ups said they needed to fall asleep. Now, I get it. Block out the light and seclude yourself to your own private little sleep bubble.

Extra Battery PackTo me running out of battery on my phone, computer, or iPad is quite possibly the most amatuer move you could make. So don’t tempt fate and come prepared with your own battery supply.

HeadphonesA travel staple in tuning out the world and secluding yourself to your own thoughts. This one is pretty self-explanatory.

ReadsOf course, these are merely suggestions of some of our personal favorites, but do yourself a favor and curl up to a good read on the plane. It’s the perfect opportunity to indulge in that bestseller you’ve been keeping your eye on but never had time to sit down with.

Airplane PillowDon’t be a rookie. Bring your own pillow.

And you’ll want to check these off too…

  • Hand sanitizer (We like this one from The Honest Co. Kills germs with no harsh chemicals and it doesn't leave your hands feeling dry.)

  • Gum (You know for when your ears begin to pop mid-landing.)

  • Chargers for all of your devices

  • Socks (‘Cause our toes always seem to freeze on flights.)

  • Toothbrush and Toothpaste

Oh and one last thing, WATER! Hydration is my not-so-secret-secret to walking off the plane feeling somewhat normal. Bon voyage, safe travels, and wishing you the happiest of holidays! Give mom an extra hug from us. ;)
