Labor Day is just around the corner and as the mark of summer's grand finale we think its important - no imperative - you use this time to take one last weekend away before it's back to the usual grind. 

If you're lucky enough to live in Los Angeles then weekend trips are easy like Sunday morning. Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Newport, Laguna, Napa, Ojai, Ventura, Las Vegas, San Francisco - I mean the list could go on and on! With so many decisions (and not much time left on the clock to plan a vacation) we're here to help break down our top 5 weekend getaways! 

 

1. PALM SPRINGS

This one is fairly predictable but we don't care because honestly it's predictable for a good reason. Its' constant 90 degrees and sunny temperate means it's a sure bet for a relaxing weekend in the sun accompanied by a few dips in the pool and a margarita with chips and guac on the side. What's EVEN more, Palm Springs is only a 2 hour drive from Los Angeles, meaning you get to spend less time in the car and more time poolside. Our favorite stays include: The Parker Palm Springs, The Saguaro Hotel, The Colony Palms, Ace Hotel + Swim Club, The Riviera, or the ever so helpful AirBnB. 

 

2. OJAI

Ojai is quite possibly our favorite place for some good old fashioned R&R. Tucked away in the Topatopa mountains, Ojai is a magical destination that distances you from the hustle and bustle of LA. Within the first five minutes of being there, you begin to feel like the long lost sister of Stevie Nicks who has finally found a place where where no makeup is needed, your iPhone seems unnecessary, and work is a million miles away. The Ojai Valley Inn is home to our favorite spa in all of California. Luxurious treatments that are organic and performed with such care we dare you not to fall asleep in complete relaxation. With only an hour and 20 minute drive, Ojai is the no brainer to this very difficult decision. 

 

3. SANTA BARBARA

The first time I ever went to Santa Barbara I fell in love. Not only with the person I was there with, but also with the town itself. Santa Barbara is the beach town I wish Malibu was. Not pretentious but equally beautiful, Santa Barbara possess the true spirit of "California cool." Relaxation is as if it is pumped in the air. Food is divine and not horribly pricey. Beaches are expanse, not busy, and especially clean. No wonder why so many people retire in Santa Barbara. Our favorite accommodations include The Belmond and The Bacara. 

 

4. NAPA VALLEY

It's wine 'o'clock somewhere! Napa Valley is notorious for being the land of wine and although that may not be its' official title it's good enough for us. With lush scenery and yummy wineries abound, Napa Valley is like Disneyland for adults. But before you get too tipsy to drive, make sure to keep in mind that Napa Valley exceeds well beyond the city of Napa - stretching many miles that include cities such as Calistoga, St. Helena and Yountville. Napa isn't all wine and buzz though, it is also home to a wonderful art and music scene. Our favorite accommodations include The Napa River Inn, Carneros Resort & Spa, and The Meritage Resort and Spa.

 

 

5. LAGUNA

Welcome to Laguna Beach! (And no, we're not talking about the hit reality show.) Laguna Beach, similarly to Santa Barbara, is the epitome of a California beach town. Nestled in the hills of San Joaquin, there are plenty of outdoor actives in Laguna such as hiking trails, water sports and swimming. Laguna is also home to a variety of hotspot eateries and boutiques such as The Cliff Restaurant and Tuvalu. Our number one choice for accommodations is Casa Laguna Hotel & Spa.
